Privacy
Resenha does not have its own accounts, and it does not collect data about you. There is no Resenha server.
On your devices
Signing in keeps a session in the keychain on that device, so you stay logged in. Signing out removes it.
Drafts stay on the device. If iCloud is on, they also sync through your iCloud to your other devices. They are not published, and Resenha does not upload them anywhere else.
When you publish
Publish saves the review to your own Atmosphere account, the same account you use with BookHive. From then on it belongs to that account. Resenha does not keep a copy.
Your password is entered on your account host’s page, such as Bluesky. It is never sent to Resenha.
Shelves
Shelves are saved to your own Atmosphere account, like reviews, in the format BookHive and Popfeed use, so they show in those apps too. They are public: anyone can see a shelf’s name and the books on it. Deleting a shelf removes it from your account.
Readers’ profiles show their shelves, which Resenha reads from their public accounts.
Following and the Parlor
Following a reader saves a follow to your own Atmosphere account. It is the same follow Bluesky and BookHive use, so following or unfollowing in Resenha does the same there, and like other follows it is public.
The Parlor shows what the people you follow started and finished. To build it, Resenha asks BookHive for their public profiles, and keeps a copy on the device so it opens quickly. Signing out deletes it.
When you report or block
A report is sent from your account to the network’s moderation service, Bluesky’s, with the review, post or account you reported. A block is saved to your own account, where other apps can see and respect it.
Resenha keeps a list of what you blocked and reported on the device, to hide it. It also downloads a public list of content its maintainer removed after reports. Nothing about you is sent with that request.
Kobo highlights
When you import from a Kobo, Resenha reads a copy of the e-reader’s database on your device. Nothing on the Kobo is changed. Your highlights and notes are kept on the device and, if iCloud is on, in your iCloud, like drafts. They are never published, and never sent to Resenha, BookHive or Bluesky. To match your books, Resenha searches BookHive’s catalog with their titles, authors and ISBNs, nothing else.
Videos
Book pages search YouTube for reviews and interviews about the book. The search sends the book’s title and author to Google’s YouTube API, with nothing about you. Videos play in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player, and Google’s privacy policy applies when you play one.
